Could have almost been the slogan of the DUP under Peter Robinson. Sammy Wilson told us all we would have to have tighten our collective belts in this age of austerity. Obviously this does not apply to important matters like flying flags from Government buildings plenty of money available for that. And closing down residential homes must still go ahead after only a short stay of execution. It’s always nice to see a political party get it’s priorities straight. Now we can see why so many DUP politicians fell over themselves in order to pay gushing tributes to Margaret Thatcher when she died recently. Maggie would be so proud of them all they really are Thatcher’s children.

Sammy Gets His Flags Out

Sammy Wilson the Minister for Finance in the Executive has ordered that the Union Flag should be flown from 5 more Government buildings here. This will cost the taxpayers £10,000. The flags will only however be flown on 18 designated days a year. This move by Sammy has been condemned by the SDLP and SF as well as the Alliance Party. Meanwhile his party colleague Edwin Poots the Health Minister has said sorry for trying to close down all the residential homes in the North. He has also said he will not close down any residential homes here for at least 6 months.

Sammy Wilson the DUP’s naked politician has blocked a debate on libel reform here in the Six Counties. Over in England the reforms are going ahead without any real bother. Many people fear that Belfast courts will now become a magnet for libel tourism. That rich people will choose to come here to sue someone for libel rather than England. All the other political parties apart from the DUP support a debate on defamation and libel. But Sammy Wilson has streaked on ahead regardless of what other people think. If this is allowed to stand the only people who will really benefit will be lawyers lining their own pockets.

The Peter Principle is the theory that in a organisation a person will eventually be promoted to there level of incompetence. This obviously applies to Edwin Poots the current DUP Health Minister. Who has made such a absolute mess in his personal handling of the closing down of Care Homes here in the North. When Mike Nesbitt says you are not up to the job and should resign you are in real trouble. And Edwin Poots who did so much to undermine his predecessor Michael McGimpsey in the job has only himself to blame. Maybe it is time for Peter Robinson the First Minister to prove what a ruthless operator he is by sacking his hopeless health minister.

The DUP and their attitude to homosexuality I’m talking about. They say those living in glasshouses shouldn’t throw stones something that seems to have passed the DUP by. Today Sinn Fein have a motion up in Stormont calling for Same Sex Marriage to be made legal here. The DUP are going to try and block it by raising a motion of concern according to their Chief Whip Peter Weir. Paul Berry was a rising young star in the party until he was caught out getting a sports massage from a young gay man by the Sunday World newspaper. It cost Mr Berry his place in the party. Clifford Smyth who was once a DUP politician now a Orange Order historian according to the BBC he was photographed dressed up as a woman also in the Sunday World newspaper. And we all know how the media went to town when Iris Robinson was caught having a sexual relationship with a 19 year old businessman after a vicious attack on the Gay community. All I can say is I hope nobody currently in the DUP is living a double life especially if they have a family. For as sure as night follows day the newspaper headline DUP politician in Gay Sex Scandal can’t be to far in there future. Super-Injunction or no Super-Injunction.
